Steve White Completes First Marathon
Congratulations to Steve White on completing his first marathon on Sunday, 11/28/10 in a time of 3:55:00.
Steve has been training with Team Hendryx since May of 2010 to complete this marathon with a goal of qualifying for the 2012 Boston Marathon. Steve’s story is unique because he is formerly homeless, a recovering alcoholic and a smoker for 20 years.
Steve needed to run a 3:20 to qualify for Boston and was on pace through mile 21, however, cramping in his legs set in at mile 21 which derailed his hopes for Boston and made just finishing a struggle. However, Steve persevered and was able to finish in 3:55.
Way to go Steve – read Steve’s complete story by clicking here.

Boulder Peak Triathlon Race Report
Boulder,CO ,July 2010- Several Team Hendryx athletes made the trip to Boulder,CO to race and vacation. The weather was great and for us FL people,a nice dry climate. The swim took place in the Boulder Resevoir which was cool enough to be wetsuit legal. The bike had a very steep climb at the beginning but the downhill was a great reward for the tough climb. The run took place around the resevoir on unpaved paths. There are fantastic views of the mountains from the "res" which really makes this a beautiful area for racing and training.

2010 Boulder Altitude Camp Round Up
By Kevin Konczak of Gemini Multisport
Finally we have closed the 2010 Boulder Altitude Camp as a successful fund raising effort between Gemini Multisport of Boulder and Team Hendryx of Florida. All of our campers completed the camp and went on to finish their first EVER full Ironman distance race in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho nearly a month after camp. They learned many things including nutrition, bike fit, strategy, proper training and swim technique as well as having the chance to compete against the clock on the final day in a very short time trial taking place in the mountains surrounding Boulder. In the end, it was PERFECT weather (we were in someone's good graces!) The campers got to know each other and help benefit a local family who is under the medical cost burden of dealing with numerous health issues with their 7 year old son Klaus. Coach Sean and Coach KK were able to present a rather large "helping hand" from 100% of the proceeds after cost of the camp to Klaus and his family. We hope to build a larger and more honed camp in the near future (although it was a stellar camp and provided athletes with the best bang for the buck in the state of Colorado). Boulder Altitude Camp (BAC) will also now be known as Boulder and Clermont Training Camps. Using these two great cities to base triathlon training camps for athletes of all abilities in the future, we hope to help other athletes, and other families along the way to spread the word and lifestyle of the sport of triathlon.
In the included photos of this post, you will see pictures of the bike time trial used in the Boulder Altitude Camp which I snapped this last week on one of my rides, as well as the family the camp was able to benefit. From Left to Right (back row), Coach Sean Hendryx, Tracy, Tim and our primary beneficiary of the camp (front row), Klaus Dragon and Calvin. To the left in the background of the family, for those of you wondering what Old Stage Rd (part of the Boulder Peak Triathlon) looks like, that is IT...the legendary hill (you can only see about half of it in this picture as it gets steeper out of view. If you would like to help or donate more to the Klaus Dragon cause, please visit Caring Bridge website.

Coach Sean Buys the Ice in New Jersey! New Jersey Marathon Report:
Coach Sean and Coach Steve raced on the Jersey Shore hoping Coach Steve would qualify for Boston 2011. Unfortunately it was unseasonably super hot. Temps reached 90 and it was a tough day. The course was well manned with plenty of aid stations and a lot of people came out in the neighborhoods to cheer and support the racers. Sean and Steve recommend this race for anyone looking for a marathon. Coach Sean doesn't recommend running two marathon's in two weeks !
